Therapy That Feels
Grounded and Human

This page is a place to get a sense of who I am, how I think about therapy, and whether working together as your therapist feels like a good fit for you.

What Informs My Work

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario, with over 20 years of experience in the helping professions, working alongside children, adults, families, and communities in a variety of settings. A steady thread through all of this has been supporting people to live in a way that feels more true to them.

My training includes a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a Master of Education in Adult Education, and a background in early childhood education and child development. This combination helps me understand how patterns can form early on and continue across different seasons of life, how adults actually learn and change, and how to shape therapy to the way each person naturally processes information.

How I Think About Therapy

Over the years I’ve taught and supported future helping professionals, co‑founded and co‑run a nature‑based retreat space, led teams in international community work, and facilitated groups for parents and families. These experiences shape the way I show up in the therapy room: attentive to both mind and body, respectful of culture and context, and always collaborating with you rather than talking at you.

Alongside talk therapy, I draw on mindfulness and body‑based practices, including breathwork and time in nature, when they feel like a good fit for you.

This work feels less like a job and more like a calling, shaped by family lineages of caregiving and community work, and by a deep respect for the different cultures and contexts people carry with them.

Work With Me

How I Work and What I Value

Therapy is most helpful when it feels collaborative, honest, and grounded in your real life — not like something being done “to” you or handed down from above. These are a few of the values that guide how I show up with you.

We’ll work together to co‑develop goals and make sense of what you’re carrying, rather than trying to “fix” you or tell you who you should be.

We’ll pay attention to the bigger picture - your history, responsibilities, relationships, culture, and the season of life you’re in - not just isolated symptoms.

I think of therapy as planting seeds: we’ll focus on changes that feel realistic and sustainable, and you’ll decide what to water and grow over time.

Who I Often Work With

I often work with adults who are holding a lot in — at work, in relationships, in parenting, or in their own inner world. Many are thoughtful, caring people who tend to be hard on themselves and are used to coping quietly on their own.

Balancing a Lot at Once

You may be juggling work, relationships, family, and day‑to‑day tasks, with very little space left for yourself. It can feel like you’re always “on,” stretched thin by ongoing stress and responsibility.

Showing Up for Others First

It might feel natural to be the one others lean on, while asking for support yourself feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable. Your own needs may slip to the bottom of the list, even when things are feeling heavy.

Curious About Patterns in How You Cope

You might find yourself wondering why you react the way you do - feeling wired, shut down, or on edge in certain situations. You may be curious about how your history and patterns are connected to the ways you cope now.

Wondering if It’s “Enough” to Reach Out

Part of you may question whether what you’re going through is “bad enough” for therapy, or worry about taking up space someone else needs more. At the same time, something in you knows that what you’re carrying has been a lot to hold on your own.

Boho Beaver and Nature‑Based Work

Alongside my psychotherapy practice, I co‑own Boho Beaver, a quiet, nature‑based retreat property in the Kimberley, Ontario area. It began as a way to offer the kind of reset I’ve needed myself at different points: a few days in a cozy cabin on our 80‑acre farm, time in the hot tub or sauna or by the river, unhurried mornings, and space to feel more like yourself again.

Over time, Boho Beaver has become a well‑loved place to land - whether guests come for quiet, time with loved ones, or simply being outdoors. Being part of Boho Beaver continues to shape how I think about care and capacity in my work as a therapist - how environment, pace, and small rituals of rest can support people alongside the work they’re doing in session.

This experience also informs how I offer nature‑based therapy options like Walk and Talk and Paddle and Talk, and how I’m slowly building toward more formal nature‑connected retreats in the future.

What to Expect in Working Together

Every person and situation is different, but there are a few steady things you can expect in our work together.

A Gentle Start

We’ll begin by getting to know what’s bringing you here, what life looks like right now, and what you hope might feel different over time. The early sessions are about understanding you, not rushing you.

A Collaborative Pace

We’ll keep checking in about what feels manageable and adjust together, rather than pushing into places you’re not ready to go. Your sense of readiness and capacity will help guide the work.

Space for Insight and Practice

Some sessions will focus on making sense of patterns and experiences; others may include practical ideas, experiments, or somatic practices like breathwork, guided meditation, or therapeutic drumming. You’re always invited to move at the level of “doing” that fits your life.

Ongoing Check-Ins

You’re always welcome to say what is and isn’t feeling helpful so we can keep shaping the work to fit you. My hope is that therapy feels like something we are building together, not something being done to you.
